As the largest and most multicultural city in New Zealand, Auckland offers a fantastic array of dining options. You'll have the chance to taste the finest locally sourced ingredients prepared to perfection. Our guide will suggest and arrange dining experiences that align with your preferences and interests.

Auckland to Coromandel

Embark on a picturesque journey from Auckland to the stunning Coromandel Peninsula. As we leave the city, we'll take a scenic drive through lush green hills and picturesque farmland. Our first stop is the famous Matatoki Cheese Shop, where you can taste a selection of delicious locally-made cheeses. After indulging in some savoury treats, we'll continue on our way, taking in the breathtaking views of the North Island's rugged coast and rolling hills.

Upon reaching the peninsula, you'll have the opportunity to experience the delightful Hot Water Beach. Here, you can dig your own hot pool in the sand during low tide, creating a personal hot tub experience fueled by warm water bubbling up from beneath the surface. This is a unique attraction offering an unforgettable experience amidst the natural wonders of the Coromandel Peninsula.

From the superb Coromandel coastline, we turn inland bound for the mesmerising Waitomo Caves. We venture underground, into the depths of the limestone caverns - get ready to embark on a truly extraordinary experience. Shaped by nature over millions of years, the caves are adorned with stunning stalactites and stalagmites, creating an awe-inspiring underground landscape. A guided tour will lead us through fascinating chambers, where you'll marvel at the intricate formations and learn about the geological history of the caves.

What truly sets the Waitomo Caves apart is the breathtaking spectacle of glowworms. Thousands of these tiny bioluminescent creatures create a mesmerising starry glow on the cave ceilings, resembling a celestial display. Today is one the most action packed days of your entire tour down under. We'll begin with a visit to the renowned Hobbiton, immersing ourselves in the magical world of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit." Explore the charming movie set, with its meticulously crafted hobbit holes, lush gardens, and rolling green hills.

On the return route to Rotorua, you’ll hardly believe your eyes at the stunning Te Waihou / Blue Spring - one of the purest water sources in the world - which weaves its way with remarkable clarity through the picturesque Waikato countryside.

To complete our day, we'll visit an authentic Maori village, where you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in Maori culture. We set out from Rotorua for a memorable experience at one of the geothermal highlights of Rotorua, the famous mud spa at Hell's Gate. Experience for yourself the waters once bathed in by Māori warriors. As the mud gently exfoliates your skin, take part in a soothing experience that has been enjoyed by locals for centuries. You may optionally wish to add a walk through the geothermal area of which the mud spa forms a small part.

Continuing, we make our way towards the captivating Lake Taupo, New Zealand's largest lake. Prepare to be enthralled by the beauty of this expansive body of water. Upon arrival, we'll embark on a delightful boat cruise that takes us to the magnificent Aratiatia Rapids to the Huka Falls. Witness the awe-inspiring power of nature as the gates of the Aratiatia Dam are opened, transforming the tranquil river into a rushing torrent of water. The sight of the rapids in full flow is truly breathtaking and offers a thrilling experience.

Afterward, we'll take a leisurely stroll along the serene shores of Lake Taupo. Enjoy the tranquillity and immerse yourself in the picturesque surroundings. Tongariro to Wellington

Today provides a well-deserved break for your weary legs as we embark on a road trip from Tongariro to the capital city of Wellington. As we traverse through serene farmlands, we'll take leisurely stops along the way to capture photos of the breathtaking scenery reminiscent of the Lord of the Rings movies. It's a day of pure relaxation, allowing you to unwind and immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of the journey.

For those who fancy a unique liquor tasting session, there is a hidden gem located just north of Wellington. And if you have a sweet tooth, you're in for a treat! At this special spot, you can indulge in delectable New Zealand donuts paired with rich, creamy toppings. It's an irresistible combination that will satisfy your (and your guides) cravings!

Wellington

Today is the mandatory day off for your driver guide and you have the entire day to explore the wonders of Wellington at your own pace. We highly recommend taking advantage of this opportunity by indulging in two iconic experiences: Te Papa Museum and the Zealandia Bird Sanctuary.

Te Papa Museum is a must-visit destination, offering a fascinating journey through New Zealand's history, art, and culture. Explore the diverse exhibits, ranging from captivating Maori artefacts to interactive displays showcasing the country's natural wonders. Delve into the stories and heritage of New Zealand, immersing yourself in its unique identity.

For nature enthusiasts and bird lovers, Zealandia Bird Sanctuary is a haven of biodiversity. Situated just outside the city centre, this sanctuary provides an opportunity to encounter New Zealand's native wildlife in a protected environment. Take a leisurely walk through the lush forest trails, keeping an eye out for rare bird species, including the iconic kiwi.

Whilst enjoying your evening, immerse yourself in the art and culture scene of the Wellington CBD. Wellington to Marlborough

After a stunning ferry crossing across the Cook Straight to the South Island, we'll make our way to the charming town of Blenheim. Known as the heart of New Zealand's wine country, Blenheim is home to some of the most renowned wineries in the country.

Upon arrival, we'll have the opportunity to explore the beautiful vineyards and taste some of the delicious wines produced in the region. You can choose to either walk or cycle through the vineyards, taking in the stunning scenery and soaking up the relaxed atmosphere of the wine country.

As we make our way through the vineyards, we'll learn about the history of winemaking in the region and gain a deeper appreciation for the hard work that goes into producing each bottle of wine. We'll also have the chance to meet some of the local winemakers and learn about their unique approaches to winemaking.

In the evening, we'll retire to our comfortable accommodation in Blenheim, feeling relaxed and satisfied after a day of wine tasting and gastronomic delights.

Abel Tasman National Park

Today, we'll leave the wine country behind and make our way to the vibrant town of Motueka and subsequently Kaiteriteri, a must-see destination with its golden sands and crystal-clear waters!

Upon arrival in Kaiteriteri, we'll have the option to either take a boat cruise through the stunning Abel Tasman National Park or opt for an afternoon learning about indigenous Maori people on a kayaking excursion.

If you choose to take the boat cruise, we'll set sail along the coast, taking in the stunning natural beauty of the national park and stopping at various points of interest along the way. You'll have the opportunity to go for a swim in the clear waters, explore secluded coves and beaches, and take in the stunning scenery from the comfort of our boat.

If you choose the kayaking excursion, we'll spend the afternoon paddling through the national park, learning about the indigenous Maori people who have lived in the area for centuries. You'll have the chance to see a variety of wildlife, including seals, dolphins, and penguins, and learn about the cultural significance of the area to the Maori people.

Punakaiki & The Pancake Rocks

After enjoying a refreshing morning walk on a beautiful beach near Motueka, we'll embark on our journey towards the breathtaking West Coast of the South Island, where the scenery undergoes a dramatic transformation. As we make our way to Punakaiki, be prepared to witness nature's marvels unfold before your eyes.

Firstly, take a small walk at the Cape Foulwind Seal Colony just outside of the small town of Westport. Next and upon arriving in Punakaiki, we have two must see sights to explore in this captivating destination. The first is a visit to the iconic Pancake Rocks. These unique rock formations, resembling stacks of pancakes, have been sculpted over time by the relentless forces of wind and sea. Witness the power of nature as waves crash against the rocks, creating spectacular blow holes that shoot water skyward during high tide.

In the late afternoon, immerse yourself in the lush greenery of the region by exploring the enchanting rainforest trails whilst breathing in the fresh air, and listening to the symphony of native bird songs. Experience the tranquillity of this ancient ecosystem as you meander through fern-covered paths, surrounded by towering trees and vibrant flora.

The Southwest of New Zealand is one the great natural areas of the world, and internationally recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The route south passes a number of photogenic lakes amidst the dense rainforest. We stop by to take advantage of superb photo opportunities at Lake Matahi, where a flax-fringed shoreline gives way to intense green rainforest.

We arrive at Franz Josef Glacier with enough time to give you plenty of flexibility over your day and the opportunity to explore Franz Josef Glacier at your own pace. Helicopter flights of varying length that include brief glacier landings are available, while those that prefer a more active experience can take a hike on the glacier (glacier access by helicopter), allowing you opportunity to marvel at its dazzling blue ice and witness unique formations. For those that prefer to stay on the ground, there are beautiful rainforest hiking trails leading right from Franz Josef village through to some excellent glacier viewpoints.

Beyond the glacier, the surrounding area offers enchanting sights to explore. Take a leisurely stroll along the Franz Josef Valley Walk, or visit the nearby Okarito Kiwi Sanctuary for a chance to spot the elusive kiwi bird.

After taking in the tranquil beauty of this pristine lake, our journey continues along the mesmerising Haast Highway, a road that winds through stunning landscapes, from dense forests to cascading waterfalls.

As we venture towards Wanaka, prepare to be charmed by this picturesque lakeside town. Nestled amidst majestic mountains, Wanaka offers a perfect blend of natural splendour and vibrant energy. As we leave behind the captivating allure of Queenstown, our journey takes us through the picturesque town of Arrowtown, nestled in the heart of the stunning Southern Alps. Following a late lunch, we depart from Arrowtown on a scenic drive towards Te Anau. Today, our journey takes us across vibrant rolling farmland from Te Anau to Dunedin, also known as the Edinburgh of the South. This charming city, reminiscent of its Scottish counterpart, is brimming with rich history and unique attractions.

We'll make our way to Baldwin Street - the steepest in the world – and marvel at its incredible gradient. Feel the thrill as you walk or drive up the steep incline, capturing memorable photos along the way. Afterward, we'll continue our exploration of Dunedin by visiting the University of Otago, New Zealand's oldest university. Admire the stunning architecture and wander through the picturesque campus, immersing yourself in the vibrant academic atmosphere.

For those with a love for beer, we'll also offer an optional tour and tasting at Speight’s - the country's first brewery.

Alpine Lake Tekapo

Early in the morning, depart Dunedin bound for Lake Tekapo, one of the most well-known and beautiful locations in New Zealand. Lake Tekapo is a stunning glacial lake situated in the heart of the Southern Alps, surrounded by rugged mountains and stunning natural beauty. It's also home to the iconic Church of the Good Shepherd, a historic stone church that has become one of the most photographed buildings in the country.
